A Pure Heart By Faith
Scripture Readings: Romans 5:8-9, 12, 15, 20; Romans 6:11; Galatians 2:20
“What must I do to be saved?” When we die to the law and to our old life of sin, we become a new person with new power to live a clean life before God. It is a common myth that we can be saved and continue to walk in our sin. If you want a pure heart, you must walk by faith and not by works, and He will give you the desire of your heart.

Episode 010 – That Uncomfortable Word – Part 2

Reviewing the Article So Far
Most of the “notes” for this week can be found in the online article entitled That Uncomfortable Word–Conviction!
- What is sin? Sin is anomia–lawlessness, to be outside of God’s revealed Law (1 John 3:4).

Episode 009 – That Uncomfortable Word
Very uncomfortable indeed...
Introduction
“Sinning Christians” (an oxymoron) aren’t entirely responsible for being careless about continuing in sin, since they came in under a “gutted Gospel,” one that omits not only taking up one’s cross to follow Jesus, but also omitting the key Gospel element the Holy Spirit uses to expose sin and convict of it.

The Ugliness Of Sin
Scripture Readings: 2 Chronicles 23; 24:4,6,15,18,20; Jeremiah 2:5-25
What is sin? 1 John 3:4 defines sin as lawlessness. Sin then is a voluntary rebellion against the will of God. Sin is an offense against God that I choose when I walk in my own will. Righteousness is innocence. We see the consequences of sin in our daily life—in our finances, in our relationships, and in the pain that fills our hearts. Are you carrying a burden of sin on your back or are you unconscious and dull of spirit? At the cross of Jesus the burden of sin can be cut from your back! You can be made alive in Jesus!!!

The Turning Point
Pastor Ray
A Turning Point comes when you clearly see your sin in the light of God’s glory. We take it for granted that God is always kind, merciful and loving. But God is not bound by our sentiments. He is also a God of justice and judgment! God does have a Turning Point when He walks away because of our contempt and unbelief. Restore your covenant with Jesus. Repent of your sins and cast them aside. Make today a Turning Point in your life!

The Kernels of Wheat podcast
Teaching and Bible study notes by Jim Kerwin
Verse: 1 John 1:6
If we say that we have fellowship with Him
and yet walk in the darkness,
we lie and do not practice the truth;
- Lying about fellowship with God; poor excuses for Christians.
- If we say (or imply) that we are Christians – that is, that we live in close fellowship with God – but our lives and hearts say otherwise, that is a serious form of hypocrisy or lying.
- Walking in darkness is a description of the opposite of living in close communion with God.
- Walking in darkness is characterized by [click to continue…]

Two Bible Study Pointers to Help in “Rightly Dividing the Word”:
- You can’t know the whole counsel of God if you don’t read the whole counsel of God. That means one of the disciplines in which you should engage as a disciple is to read the Bible regularly, cover to cover.
- When you find an Old Testament quote in the New Testament, go back and read the quote in context in the Old Testament. Often the speaker or the writer is assuming that his original audience is familiar with the passage, and that they are making more “truth connections” as a result. But for those of you who do this, how do you account for the fact that sometimes the New Testament quote seems very different from the Old Testament passage?

The Entrance Into The Kingdom Of God
Pastor Ray
Scripture Readings:
Matthew 6:28-34;
7:1-13;
John 4:11;
7:37;
Ephesians 1:3;
4:29-30
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” We have heard this from a parent, teacher, or perhaps a friend. Nice idea, but did you know that this is the entrance into the Kingdom of God? That’s right — the narrow gate. Our Father is willing to treat you the way you wish to be treated — with mercy, honor, respect and kindness. In return He expects you to allow Him to make you holy in every part of you life by the blood of Jesus, and He expects you to treat Him the way He has treated you. The only possible way to be saved is by not grieving the Holy Spirit. Christian perfection is nothing more or less than treating others–including God–the way you wish to be treated. Christian perfection is love!

Are You Fulfilling Bible Prophecy?
Are you helping to fulfill Bible prophecy by not reading the Scriptures regularly?
Prophecies You Don’t Want to Fulfill!
- Some Christians will fall away from the faith, drawn away by deceitful spirits, teaching of demons, and conscience-less liars — 1 Timothy 4:1-3
- The time will come [has come!] when some Christians won’t endure sound teaching, will want their “ears tickled,” and will turn their ears away from the truth — 2 Timothy 3:13–4:8.
- False Christs and false prophets will be bent on deceiving God’s people — Mark 13:21-23.
- The most sobering prophecy — the day when Jesus says to many of those who thought they were serving Him, “I never knew you; depart from Me.” — Matthew 7:21-23
Side note: The Adversary knows the Scriptures well, and can use them against you if
you don’t know them well. He had the audacity to attempt, unsuccessfully, to deceive Jesus in this way (
Matthew 4:3-11); what makes you think

Episode 011 – The Original Aromas of Christmas
[Note to NPC website visitors: Yes, this is a jump from episode 3 to episode 11. We'll pick up the teaching series in 1 John after the first of the year.]
There's a reason why nobody talks about the 'aromas' of the first Christmas!
The Aromas of Modern Christmas–Modern Luxuries
In North American culture, we associate various aromas and fragrances with Christmas — pine boughs, “chestnuts roasting on an open fire,” pumpkin pie, roasted turkey, baked ham, yams, apple pie, hot chocolate, and egg nog.

Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment
Pastor Ray
Scripture Readings:
Matthew 5:7,
Matthew 7:1-12
The Beatitudes are an outline of “The Sermon On The Mount.” Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” He speaks again about mercy in Matthew 7 when He says, “Do not judge, or you will be judged.” If you want to follow Jesus, He calls you to give up the need to be “somebody,” to humble your heart and become a servant. Judgment against others flows from a bitter, angry or prideful heart. Jesus came to save you from your sin, especially the sin of Judgment!

A Cry For Inward Righteousness
Pastor Ray
Scripture Readings:
John 16:7;
Matthew 5:20;
1 Kings 13;
Matthew 6:24,
33;
Hebrews 12
Three words: SIN, RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUDGMENT, all of scripture centeres around these three words! With regard to sin: Men do not belive that Jesus has the power to save from all sin. With regard to righteousness: Jesus has gone to the Father, so the Holy Spirit must teach us the “Narrow Path,” and the “Groaning Gate.” With regard to judgment: the day and the hour has been set and the Devil and all who belong to themselves will be cast into Hell. It is time to walk in “Inward Righteousness” by the power of the blood of Jesus as the Holy Spirit opens the path before us.

Matthew 6:25-34,
Genesis 22 (Story of Abraham’s sacrifice),
Romans 12:1-3
If You chose to be a disciple Jesus Christ, God will test you! Just as Abraham was tested you must all so be tested, to determine whether or not you will obey the Lord. Will you lay everything on the alter and become a living a living sacrifice? As we lift up our hands in obedient surrender, as we endure the piercing The Holy Spirit makes plain what we could not see in our blindness. The provision of Righteousness from the blood of Jesus can flow in our lives!

Are you seeking the Kingdom of Heaven with all your time and energy, or are you absorbed by the worldly culture of seeking money and pleasure? Jesus in The Sermon On The Mount, opens for us the steps in to The Kingdom Of Heaven. There are no special deals! He calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross each day and be crucified. Jesus says to our hearts, “Do Not Worry!”
