You can be delivered and regenerated. It’s not about self-improvement but it’s simply about crucifixion and allowing Jesus to make you into a new creature. There is no reason to walk in sin. It’s time to rise up in Jesus and give Him full reign in your life, if you’ve not done so already.
There comes a place in our walk with Jesus where we must make that decision we’re going to fully trust Jesus and let Him have His way in our heart and in our lives, regardless of what happens or what the consequences of that decision will be. If we fail to do this, we will quickly abandon the school of the Holy Spirit, so don’t give up, make that decision to fully give yourself to Jesus and let Him rule in your life today.
This was rebroadcast the last time on January 15 but it’s the most critical question you will ever answer, so if you don’t know with full certainty please listen closely and let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart.
Using the book entitled Rees Howells Intercessor authored by Norman Grubb, Pastor Ray details how Rees entered the school of the Holy Spirit. One of the key things that Rees discovered was that the Holy Spirit was a person. We must lay aside everything, walk in the blood of Jesus and ask for enmity against the devil and his works. This is a very serious decision, a life and death one, and we must enter this school, if we are to go to heaven. We must dwell either in light or in darkness, there is no middle ground. This requires an unconditional surrender of our lives, are you willing to enter the school of the Holy Spirit?
We are in the process of making many old sermons and radio broadcasts available online and one of the tapes converted today is quite similar to the broadcast today and it’s entitled “True Salvation.” If you’ve not experienced true salvation, it’s simply because you’ve not left the darkness. Be convicted by the words of Pastors Ray and Jan and be encouraged to seek Jesus with all of your heart!
This is a continuation of yesterday’s broadcast and we must come to the awareness that without Jesus, we are children of the devil. There’s more to salvation than receiving Christ, we must allow Jesus to remove all of the darkness in our heart. The darkness and light cannot co-exist. There must be an absolute and total transformation resulting in a production of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Are you willing to let Jesus totally transform you and bring you out of all darkness?
In the last post , Pastor Ray and John Bunyan were both talking about walking through the valley of the shadow of death. In this part of Pilgrim’s Progress, Christian cries out “I will walk in the strength of the Lord God.” I’m including an excerpt from a sermon preached by Brother David Sampson in 2006 and this excerpt was the only part of the sermon that remained as the tape was severely damaged. It’s very short (less than 20 minutes) and the sound quality isn’t good but I trust that it will be very helpful to some of you. The explanation of the word temptation, peirasmos, or “experience of evil” is enlightening as well. The place of standing in the valley of the shadow of death is full submission to Jesus.
Jesus came as the light and when He always casts out the darkness. Light and darkness cannot co-exist. We must allow the full light of Jesus to transform us. Will you enter into the presence of Jesus, and allow Him to cast out all of the darkness? We are all children of the devil and there must be a new birth in order for Jesus to transform us.
Using Psalms 23 and a story in Pilgrim’s Progress, Pastor Ray describes this walk through the valley of the shadow of death. In that place there are ditches on either side, one being moral failure and the other being false doctrine. Will you make that decision to walk in the strength of the Lord?
If you’re serious about following Jesus and you’re seeking a revival in your heart, this is an absolute must listen. The work of revival is always first a work of reformation, through the power of the blood of Jesus. I would offer an alternative title “Jesus prayer for revival.” If you are an earnest follower of Jesus, he has laid out His path for revival for you. Listen to the exposition of the prayer of Jesus in John 17 and allow Him to bring revival power to your heart, your family and those around you.
If you have had difficulty in finding additional sermons, please go to the top of the page and select, “Do You Need More Sermons?” (Note: The download command is at the bottom of the very long page for now, but any sermon can be streamed or downloaded.) Our internet radio is working and is on the right side of the webpage and the bottom of the page. Simply click the Pilgrim’s Progress logo, and it will automatically play the last three sermons or broadcasts. You can access internet radio without an internet connection by calling (641) 793-9914.
This is the first of a two-part series from 2005 on the preparation for revival. (Part 2 will be posted tomorrow.) In order for revival to come, there must be first be a total reformation of a group of people who are sold out to Jesus. We must stand by faith for the fire to fall as Elijah did, once this reformation is complete. Listen to the story of Elijah and King Ahab and determine in your heart that you will allow Jesus to accomplish this total reformation in your heart.
This is a radio broadcast with Pastors Ray and Jan Greenley well before her passing in 2010 and it’s direct and to the point regarding the need for confession and crucifixion. Allow the Holy Spirit to walk you through this process of crucifixion, where you die and Christ can live through you!
There’s nothing more important to us than the presence of God in our lives. Money, success, accomplishments and all of the ways of the world fail to bring the presence of God into our lives. Using the story of Moses, Pastor Ray, describes how God created this need in the heart of Moses. If there is no presence of God in our lives, there will be no righteous living and no righteousness. Are you willing to cry out for God’s presence in your life, realizing that it will cost you everything?
We thought that some of you may benefit from a very brief tutorial on setting up a podcasting application on your smartphone. This type of application takes the posts made from our website and then copies that post to your app. If there’s a sermon or broadcast included (which there will be most of the time), then you can either stream or download the audio files with your app. It really only takes a few steps to set up, which are laid out below:
- Go to the store for your phone and search for “Podcasting application” and select one, download and install it. It’s best to start with a free app and there are a number of different ones to choose from depending on the type of phone you have.
- Come back to the site and select the type of phone you may and then the app you installed and then select subscribe.
- Once you do this, your app will now download the posts for you and you can stream the audio or download it at your leisure.
Here are some images to help you. The first picture highlights the “Subscribe” function, once you select that, you’ll be prompted for an app and you should select the app you’ve downloaded. The last two images show how a sermon looks uses a podcasting app, as illustrated in an app called “Podkicker,” which is a free application available on both Android and iPhones. (NOTE: Podcasting apps are also available on windows phones and most computers.)
This sermon relates to the story of Cain from yesterday’s broadcast, who refused the healing that God wanted to provide to his soul. Listen to the story of Cain and make the decision that you will be healed by the Master, regardless of the costs. This story is a solemn reminder what will become of us if we refuse the way of the master.
This is a continuation of yesterday’s broadcast and would urge you to listen to it, if you’ve not done so already. We must consciously determine in our hearts that we will follow the light of Jesus or we will be consumed by the darkness. This means that there will be a death blow to all of the things we have created in our lives through our own efforts. Pastor Ray contrasts the woman caught in adultery (see John 8) to the first wanderer (Cain), who always found himself in a place of new beginnings due to his sin. Cain had no desire for God to hover his life. I urge you to be totally transformed by the light of Jesus, aren’t you tired of starting over again and again? John 3:19-21 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
Using that wonderful old poem called “The Touch of the Master’s Hand” and Genesis 1, Pastor Ray describes what happens when we are touched by the hand of Jesus!
Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer
thought it scarcely worth his while to waste much time on the old violin,
but held it up with a smile; “What am I bidden, good folks,” he cried,
“Who’ll start the bidding for me?” “A dollar, a dollar”; then two!” “Only
two? Two dollars, and who’ll make it three? Three dollars, once; three
dollars twice; going for three..” But no, from the room, far back, a
gray-haired man came forward and picked up the bow; Then, wiping the dust
from the old violin, and tightening the loose strings, he played a melody
pure and sweet as caroling angel sings.
The music ceased, and the auctioneer, with a voice that was quiet and low,
said; “What am I bid for the old violin?” And he held it up with the bow.
A thousand dollars, and who’ll make it two? Two thousand! And who’ll make
it three? Three thousand, once, three thousand, twice, and going and
gone,” said he. The people cheered, but some of them cried, “We do not
quite understnad what changed its worth.” Swift came the reply: “The touch
of a master’s hand.”
And many a man with life out of tune, and battered and scarred with sin,
Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd, much like the old violin, A
“mess of pottage,” a glass of wine; a game – and he travels on. “He is
going” once, and “going twice, He’s going and almost gone.” But the Master
comes, and the foolish crowd never can quite understand the worth of a soul
and the change that’s wrought by the touch of the Master’s hand.

Using the story of Abram (Abraham), Pastor Ray describes the process of how God made him holy. It was NOT by his hard work or his hunger for God, but it was the great mercy and kindness of God. Be not deceived, all of us must ascend this hill and walk blameless before the Lord, are you willing to let Jesus do that incredible work in your heart by His blood?
Psalms 24:3,4 says Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
It is an absolute necessity to carefully examine our character flaws, and take them to Jesus. All of us suffer from these character flaws, which can and will lead to sinful ways if we fail to allow Jesus to remove them from our hearts. Taking the life of Saul, Pastor Ray describes the incredible amount of damage that these character flaws can bring into our lives. Although our early lives and backgrounds may have shaped our character, we must take responsibility and through repentance allow the blood of Jesus to totally change us or we’re in great danger of being ensnared from the residual effects of these character flaws. Will you be like Saul who absolutely refused to deal with this issue or will you humble your heart and let Jesus have the victory as King David did?

(NOTE: This radio broadcast was from October 2002, the day following the broadcast with this precious brother on the topic of revival. The book he describes, “Repentance: The First Work of the Gospel” is like no other on this topic and can easily be found. Given that the tape is quite old, it was exceedingly difficult to get good levels for each speaker but the focus is on Brother Roberts, whom you can clearly hear and understand.) Pastors Ray and Jan discuss what biblical repentance is and what it is not. It’s highly recommended to listen to this, in concert with the earlier radio broadcast on revival.
(NOTE: This is a broadcast with Pastors Ray and Jan and Richard Owen Roberts from 2002 with the revivalist and preacher Richard Owen Roberts.) in Isaiah 26:9, the scriptures says “My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.” There are so many nuggets of wisdom in the words of this dear man, it’s time to learn righteousness my brother and my sister.
As we walk with Jesus, we must not only learn his ways but become fully aware of the ways of the devil as he comes in power to discourage us, to dissuade us from seeking and following after Jesus. Have you entered into a covenant with Jesus to “keep at it” which means that I will seek His face and His righteousness with all of my heart? When the discouragement comes, I will take it to Jesus and let Jesus have the victory. Ah, my brother, my sister, I want to encourage you to lay down your normalcy bias and simply keep at it and let Jesus have His way in your heart and in your life. There is real victory in Jesus Christ!
Using the story of Paul and Silas in prison, Pastor Ray describes what you must do to be saved. When you can no longer afford your sin, you will leave it. Don’t procrastinate but make an unequivocal decision to be saved from your sin!
